Child Abuse at Daycare Also Occurs in Aceh, One Caregiver Arrested

Child abuse at a childcare centre or daycare has also occurred in Banda Aceh. One perpetrator has been apprehended by the police. According to detikSumut, the abuse took place at Baby Preneur Day Care in Syiah Kuala sub-district, Banda Aceh City. The video circulated showing four toddlers and two female caregivers. One child was seen crying while being fed, with the perpetrator repeatedly striking and slapping the victim before throwing her to the ground. The other caregiver merely watched as the child cried loudly. The daycare management immediately apologised and dismissed three caregivers. The incident occurred on Monday (27/4) at around 07:45 WIB. “We dismissed three people one hour after the incident. One perpetrator and two others who were at the location,” said the owner of Baby Preneur Day Care, Husaini. Husaini mentioned that there is CCTV footage at the facility accessible to parents. During the incident, Husaini reported it to the parents and apologised. “We have met with the victim’s parents and conveyed our apologies. I was the first to inform the victim’s parents of the incident,” he explained. Perpetrator Arrested The police conducted an investigation and arrested a caregiver with the initials DS (24). Six witnesses were examined, and it was found that the abuse occurred twice, on 22 and 27 April 2026. “The joint team from Unit IV/PPA and the Rimueng Team of Satreskrim Polresta Banda Aceh, assisted by Resmob Subdit III Ditreskrimum Polda Aceh, has secured the alleged perpetrator DS for questioning,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation at Polresta Banda Aceh, Kompol Miftahuda Dizha Fezuono, to reporters on Tuesday (28/4/2026). The Banda Aceh City Government has also intervened, discovering that the daycare lacked an operating permit. “The Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) of Banda Aceh City states that based on the examination, Baby Preneur Day Care does not have an operational permit,” said Member of the Banda Aceh City Development Acceleration Coordination Team (TKPP), Sulthan Muhammad Yus, during a press conference at City Hall on Tuesday (28/4/2026) evening. The victim is an 18-month-old toddler. A joint team from the Banda Aceh City Government has visited the location to investigate the case further. “The Mayor of Banda Aceh emphasises that there is no room for violence against children in Banda Aceh and has issued instructions to halt the operations of that daycare,” Sulthan clarified.
