Chief prosecutor, wife sue each other

YOGYAKARTA: Head of Yogyakarta Prosecutor's Office Eddy Soemardjo
and his wife Maghrib Winarto have sued each other for alleged
maltreatment.

First Insp. Firman, a deputy chief of the Depok police
subprecinct in Sleman regency, said on Tuesday the quarreling
couple had separately submitted complaints on Monday.

He said 57-year-old Eddy came to the police station at 9 a.m.,
three hours before his wife did the same thing.

"According to Eddy, he was beaten by his wife with a saw on
Monday during a quarrel. She accused him of having a love affair
with another woman," Firman said, adding that Eddy suffered a
light injury to his thumb.

In the meantime, Maghrib accused her husband of smashing her
head several times into the wall on April 7, Firman said.

He said the couple could both be named as suspects in separate
crimes. --JP
