Chief editor tried in court

PALU, Central Sulawesi: The chief editor of the Sulteng Post daily will be tried here on Thursday at the district court, Antara reported on Wednesday.

The defendant, only identified as AA, is charged with defaming Murad Husain of PT Kurnia Luwuk Sejati.

Beginning in February, the daily has reported the firm's opening of oil palm plantations in Banggai and Poso regencies. The reports alleged that the plantations had damaged protected forests.

The defendant is charged with disregarding the journalists' code of ethics to the extent of personally attacking the plantation's firm's director.
