JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A man was threatened with being pelted with stones and wood after admonishing a motorcyclist who was riding against the traffic flow at Pondok Labu Market, South Jakarta. The incident was captured on video posted by Instagram account @jktviral. It is said to have occurred on Thursday (5 March 2026) around 3:15 pm WIB in the Pondok Labu Market area which operates a one-way system. In the 46-second video, two riders on a motorcycle are seen attempting to ride against the flow. They are wearing plastic raincoats, one red and one blue. The rider wearing a blue raincoat and helmet is seen approaching the video recorder while gripping a rock in his right hand. “Sir, this is against the direction, sir, bringing stones, bringing wood this, sir. Look, sir, I’ve got a stone here, sir, got a stone, got a stone,” the man filming the incident says. The man even briefly runs after the filmer, ready to throw a stone. Meanwhile, his accomplice in a red raincoat is seen discarding a wooden plank from his hand in the distance. After the incident, the two men returned to their motorbike and continued their journey while still travelling against the flow. In a separate confirmation, Cilandak Police Sector chief, Compol Gusprihatin Zen, confirmed the incident after checking the scene. “We have conducted an on-site check. It did happen,” Zen said on Saturday (7 March 2026). “The victim has not reported yet. We are looking for witnesses who truly saw it. Because the incident happened in a split second—it involved a motorist, so it could have been two people meeting on the road, not locals,” he said. Zen also urged the public to report any public order disturbances and security concerns. “We urge the public to call the call centre 101 if they see any public order disturbances. It will be quick,” he said.
