Chicken meat availability throughout Ramadan in Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Province has been secured. This was confirmed by Krisnaningsih, Head of Livestock and Animal Health Division at the Bangka Regency Food and Agriculture Office (Dinpanpertan), on Friday, 27 February.

“Chicken stocks during the fasting month are adequately supplied based on data from broiler chicken production by companies and businesses in Bangka Regency,” said Krisnaningsih.

According to Dinpanpertan Bangka data, total chicken meat availability reaches 17,925 carcasses or kilograms. Four poultry companies operate in Bangka Regency: PT Mitra Semesta Sejahtera with 8,657 carcasses/kg, PT Taat Indah Bersinar with 4,311 carcasses/kg, PT Japfa with 2,615 carcasses/kg, and PT Surya Unggas Lestari with 1,712 carcasses/kg.

“We hope the available supply is sufficient, especially since larger traders also source from us in Bangka Regency since they don’t have their own facilities,” she said.

In addition to large-scale companies and entrepreneurs, chicken meat production also comes from smaller-scale farmers. Therefore, chicken meat stocks in Bangka Regency are guaranteed to be adequate. Moreover, according to Krisnaningsih, current demand for chicken meat remains lower than available supplies.

“Perhaps closer to Eid the demand will increase and prices may rise, but they won’t increase significantly because we have plentiful supply,” she stated.

Currently, chicken meat prices in Bangka Regency at producer level are recorded at Rp35,000 per kilogram. “That’s the producer price, not the retail price for traders. Closer to Eid, prices may increase, but not dramatically because we have abundant supplies,” she added.

Beef is now selling at Rp140,000 per kilogram, chicken meat at Rp43,000 per kilogram, and chicken eggs at Rp30,000 per kilogram at retail levels.

Although prices are stable, the government will continue to conduct regular monitoring throughout Ramadan to track price movements. Marlina, a trader at Kite Market in Sungailiat, Bangka, noted that chicken meat prices have risen to Rp42,000 per kilogram from the previous Rp35,000 per kilogram.
