Chevrolet Blazer LT, the most luxurious SUV

To spoil the customers demand for various kinds of sports utility vehicle (SUV), PT General Motors Indonesia (GMI) launched a new variant of the Chevrolet Blazer LT last week. The launch was only six months after the company launched the Chevrolet Blazer DOHC.

The car, claimed to the most luxurious of its kind, still retains the old performance of the Blazer and only has a sleek facelift on the exterior.

The Blazer, which first entered the local market in 1996, used to carry the flag of Opel. The company changed the name to Chevrolet earlier this year to give the image of "a tough American car".

The slight differences can be seen on the front brush guard, side cladding and over fenders. All give a more rugged look and sturdiness. The new rim design and a two-tone exterior also differentiate the Blazer LT with other variants.

The interior is also beautified with different door trimming which is dominated by beige. Comfort reclining leather seats will enable the five passengers to enjoy the convenience in the spacious cabin.

Carrying a 2,200cc Chevrolet DOHC 16 valve engine under its bonnet, the car has a maximum power of 138 horsepower at 5,600 revs per minute (rpm). The engine also results in a maximum torque of 195 Newtonmeter at 3,400 rpm.

With four two-tone colors available, Blazer fans have a choice to pick one that fits their character.

"The new Blazer LT aims to meet the desires of SUV fans for a high-end, luxury version of the Blazer," said the president director of GMI, Harold Koh.

"The new car retains all of the proven performance characteristics of Blazer pedigree but the comfort and features have been elevated to new levels of luxury," he added.

GMI deserves to celebrate not only the launch of the latest Blazer, but also its 10th year of operation in the country. Just recently, GMI was named the second best in the JD Power Asia Pacific 2003 Indonesia Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Study after BMW.

To improve customer satisfaction, GMI also opened a new dealership, on the same day and at the same venue as the launch of the Blazer LT, at the Jakarta Auto Mall in the Sudirman Business District Center in South Jakarta. So far, 50 service centers across the country provide after-sales service.

The popularity of the Blazer in Indonesia is proven with the set up of the Blazer Indonesia Club in September 2001. Currently more than 300 Blazer owners have joined the club.
