Chess tourney to improve rating

JAKARTA (JP): A rating improvement chess tournament for the
brain sport's enthusiasts will be held here by the Jakarta-based
Enerpac chess school, starting next week.

Participants, restricted only to those who do not have
international elo rating, will play qualifying round matches from
Oct. 11 to 16. Only 10 players will be eligible for the main draw
staged from Nov. 1 to 11.

The qualifiers are tipped to meet 10 national chess wizards
whose elo ratings are between 2250 and 2400. The 10 qualifiers
will earn their elo rating points based on the outcome of a duel
against national players.

The organizers are providing a total of Rp 2.5 million in
(US$1,136) cash prizes in the qualifying round. (amd)
