Chery reveals technical specifications of iCar V27 ahead of launch
Chery has presented the technical specifications of the iCar V27 Long-Range Edition, ahead of its official debut scheduled for late September.
CarnewsChina reported on Monday that the vehicle, which falls into the boxy-style Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment, features significant improvements in battery capacity, resulting in an extended driving range. The vehicle is equipped with a 51.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFG) battery from CATL. This capacity represents a 49.3 per cent increase compared to the 34.3 kWh battery found in the previous model.
This upgrade increases the driving range by 90–100 km compared to the previous variant, which offered a range of 200–210 km under the CLTC cycle. Charging capabilities have also been enhanced; the manufacturer claims the battery can be fast-charged using DC from 30 to 80 per cent in just 17 minutes. Meanwhile, the vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability has increased from 3.3 kW to 6 kW.
The combination produces a maximum power of 335 kW, or approximately 449 hp, with the electric motor receiving energy from a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that functions as a generator. The SUV measures 4,909 mm in length (or 5,055 mm including the rear spare wheel), 1,976 mm in width, 1,894 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,910 mm.
The Falcon 700 variant also features LiDAR on the roof and a Horizon Robotics Journey 6P chip with a computing capability of 560 TOPS.
The introduction of the Long-Range variant comes at a time when V27 sales in China have declined. After peaking at 4,184 units in April, sales dropped consecutively to 1,609 units in August. The V27 competes with several other boxy hybrid SUVs, such as the Changan Deepal G318, Jetour Shanhai T2, and BYD Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5.
