Chery Group recorded global sales of 247,823 vehicles in May 2026, marking a 20.5 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase, with export volumes reaching 181,871 units, a surge of 80.5 percent YoY. This achievement allowed the Chinese automaker to set a new monthly export record for the third consecutive month. Sales of New Energy Vehicles (NEV) also grew significantly to 100,304 units, up 58.8 percent YoY. According to an official company press release received in Jakarta on Friday, Chery Group’s total sales from January to May 2026 reached 1,100,921 units, a 7.2 percent increase compared to the same period the previous year. During this period, exports totalled 752,755 units, growing 69.5 percent YoY, setting a new record for the Chinese automotive industry by exceeding 700,000 units in exports within the first five months of the year. To date, Chery’s global user base has surpassed 19.62 million users, including more than 6.59 million international users. In line with its sales and export growth, Chery continues to strengthen its global strategy through enhanced research and development (R&D), manufacturing, brand image, and technology standards across various markets. This approach also supports the company’s growth in markets with stringent automotive regulations, including the European region. In Indonesia, Chery is strengthening its business through product portfolio development, expansion of its dealer network, and improvement of after-sales service. This year, the company is introducing the C5 CSH and preparing for the arrival of the Chery Q. The dealer network has also been expanded to 78 locations across Indonesia. In the new energy vehicle sector, Chery is developing a low-carbon ecosystem through the use of 100 percent recycled aluminium, heat-treatment-free materials, and integrated die-casting technology to help reduce carbon emissions in the vehicle production process. The company’s commitment to quality and data security has also been reinforced through the acquisition of AUTOSQS Level 3A certification. Additionally, Chery became the first Chinese automaker to obtain Vehicle Internet Quantum Security Certification and National Data Security Level 4 Certification. The May 2026 performance reflects the implementation of the company’s four main strategies: international expansion, transition to new energy vehicles, commercialisation of advanced technology, and enhancement of brand value.
