Chery QQ3 EV to Greet Indonesian Public Next Week

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Chery Indonesia has confirmed that its iconic compact electric car, the QQ3 EV, will greet the people of the homeland next week, precisely on 18 May 2026. Launched under the name Chery Q, the product is currently in the final stages of research and preparation before its official introduction to the public. Head of Brand and Marketing for the Chery Business Unit, Arthur Panggabean, stated that the presence of the Chery Q in Indonesia is part of the company’s efforts to bring urban electric vehicles that meet the needs of urban consumers. It will be premiered to the Indonesian public at the Indonesian Idol event on 18 May,” he said in a written statement on Monday (11/5/2026). “We see that the Chery Q has the potential to bring a fresh colour to consumers and Chery’s lineup in Indonesia,” he continued. Nevertheless, Arthur was still reluctant to discuss the product in more detail and asked the public to be patient. Signals of the Chery Q’s arrival had actually appeared some time ago through posts on the official social media of Chery Motor Indonesia. In fact, several salespeople are reportedly starting to open pre-bookings with a down payment of Rp 5 million to secure an earlier queue number. One Chery salesperson in Jakarta mentioned that the official launch along with the price announcement is likely to take place at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2026 or GIIAS 2026 on 30 July 2026. Globally, the Chery QQ3 EV has received a positive reception since its debut in China in March 2026. The electric car is claimed to have recorded 56,879 orders in just two hours after official registration opened. Its popularity continued when it appeared at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2026 under the name Chery Q. Based on global specifications, the Chery QQ3 EV has a length of 4,195 mm, width of 1,811 mm, height of 1,574 mm, and wheelbase of 2,700 mm. These dimensions make the car remain agile for use on urban roads, while still offering a spacious cabin. For performance, there are two electric motor options available: 58 kW or equivalent to 78 hp, and a variant with 90 kW and 121 hp. Both use rear-wheel drive. Meanwhile, the battery is available in two options: 29.5 kWh and 41.3 kWh. The claimed range reaches 310 km to 420 km based on the CLTC standard, depending on the variant.
