Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chery Indonesia will soon introduce its latest compact electric vehicle (EV), the Chery Q, to the Indonesian public, following the positive reception the model has received in the Chinese and Thai markets.

Enthusiasm among the Indonesian public for the Chery Q is already evident from an 80% increase in digital searches related to the model over the past week, particularly regarding its design, specifications, potential pricing, and prospects for entry into the national market.

The Chery QQ3 EV, which is the model’s name in the Chinese market, achieved 56,879 bookings within just two hours since official registrations opened in March 2026. The model then continued its global exposure at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2026 in Thailand under the name Chery Q.

“We see enthusiasm for the Chery Q building in Indonesia following its presence in Thailand and Beijing. This indicates that society is increasingly open to electric vehicles for urban use,” said Arthur.

The Chery Q is designed as a compact electric vehicle with a fun, energetic, and characterful design concept to meet urban mobility needs. Based on Chinese market specifications, the model measures 4,195 mm x 1,811 mm x 1,574 mm with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, and rear passenger legroom reaches 977 mm.

In terms of practicality, the Chery Q offers a rear boot capacity of up to 1,450 litres plus a 70-litre front boot, making it not just a stylish compact electric vehicle but also functional for daily needs.

Chery Indonesia to soon introduce Chery Q in Indonesia

Observing these developments, Chery continues to study the potential for compact electric vehicles in Indonesia, including consumer needs for EVs that are not only functional but also embody a strong lifestyle approach.

Urban Indonesian consumers now require vehicles that are easy to use, agile in city traffic, comfortable for daily activities, and still feature a design character that represents the user’s lifestyle.

“Currently, we have entered the final stage of research and preparation before introducing it to the Indonesian public at the Indonesian Idol event on 18 May. We see the Chery Q having the potential to bring a new colour to consumers and Chery’s lineup in Indonesia,” said Arthur.

The trend for compact electric vehicles is now developing rapidly in line with the growing societal need for more practical, efficient, and environmentally friendly urban mobility.

More than just an operational vehicle, the arrival of the Chery Q in the Indonesian market is projected to expand the definition of smart mobility integrated with lifestyle.

By integrating the latest technology and capable cabin comfort, this car not only functions as a means of transportation but also as a style statement for dynamic urbanites.

Chery’s efforts to bring fashionable yet robust electric vehicles are hoped to shift public perceptions that energy efficiency can align with an expressive modern lifestyle.

Through the spirit of “For Family For Love”, Chery continues to commit to delivering modern mobility solutions that combine technological innovation, comfort, safety, and a driving experience relevant to contemporary societal needs.
