Chery Q Arrives in East Java via GIIAS Surabaya, Prices Start from Rp262.4 Million
Chery has officially expanded its presence in East Java following its previous national introduction. The compact electric vehicle is available starting from Rp262.4 million on the road (OTR) in Surabaya, simultaneously broadening Chery’s electrification options for residents outside the Greater Jakarta area.
Chery’s presence in East Java was marked by its participation in the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) Surabaya 2026, held at Grand City Convex from 26–30 August 2026. During the exhibition, Chery presented the “Chery House” concept, showcasing five different electrified vehicle models.
The five models include the Chery Q, J6T CSH, TIGGO 8 CSH, TIGGO 9 CSH, and TIGCO Cross CSH. This range is part of Chery’s effort to offer vehicles with diverse characters, ranging from compact electric cars for urban use to large-capacity SUVs and adventurous vehicles.
“The market growth and increasing interest in electrified vehicles show that East Java consumers are becoming more open to new technologies. Through GIIAS Surabaya 2026, we are providing the community with the opportunity to see, test, and directly compare various Chery vehicle options,” said Joshua Mikhay Kusuma, Regional Sales Manager for Chery Indonesia.
According to Joshua, the Chery Q is one of the models garnering significant attention as it now has official pricing for the Surabaya market. The model is offered in two variants: the Chery Q Pure, priced at Rp262.4 million OTR Surabaya, and the Chery Q Rizz, priced at Rp282.4 million OTR Surabaya.
Adopting the concept of “The Most Complete Compact EV,” the Chery Q is equipped with a 42.7 kWh battery capacity, providing a range of up to 400 kilometres based on the NEDC method. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) system is designed to provide an agile driving character, while DC fast charging technology allows the battery to charge from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in approximately 16.5 minutes.
Despite its compact dimensions, the Chery Q features a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. Second-row legroom reaches 977 mm, while cabin practicality is supported by 38 storage compartments. Boot capacity can reach up to 1,450 litres in maximum configuration and includes a 70-litre power frunk.
In terms of technology, the Chery Q is equipped with a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, six airbags, 20 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, and a 540° HD Panoramic Camera. On certain packages, the car also features Autonomous Parking Assist to assist drivers during manoeuvres.
Prior to its introduction to the East Java public, the Chery Q had already received several accolades. The model won the Favourite Car award in the Passenger Car–Hatchback category at the GIIAS 2026 Exhibitor Night, as well as Best Compact Urban EV in the Indonesia Automotive Awards 2026.
Alongside the Chery Q, the J6T CSH is also being introduced to East Java following its national debut at GIIAS 2026. This SUV has entered the pre-booking stage and utilises Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology.
Unlike conventional hybrid vehicles, the electric motor is the primary driver of the J6T CSH, while the petrol engine functions as a generator to provide additional energy. This configuration allows the vehicle to maintain an electric driving character while offering a combined range of over 1,000 kilometres.
The J6T CSH also utilises a three-motor architecture, consisting of two electric motors for the intelligent all-wheel drive system and one motor-generator. This configuration is part of the J6T CSH’s character, aimed at consumers with more active mobility needs.
Meanwhile, the “Chery House” concept reflects the company’s effort to provide vehicle options based on usage needs. The Chery Q is aimed at urban mobility, the TIGGO Cross CSH for daily use, while the TIGGO 8 CSH and TIGGO 9 CSH offer larger spaces for family needs.
The J6T CSH completes the lineup with its boxy adventure SUV character. This variety demonstrates Chery’s strategy to not rely on a single type of electrification technology, but rather to present several approaches tailored to consumer needs.
