Chery officially brings Chery Q to Indonesia, a compact EV for the youth
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chery Indonesia introduced its latest electric vehicle, the Chery Q, to the Indonesian public in Jakarta on Monday. The Chery Q is designed as a compact electric vehicle with a fun, energetic, and characterful design concept to meet urban mobility needs, specifically targeting modern youth.
“The Chery Q is designed to provide a complete driving experience, complete space and comfort, complete practicality, and, of course, complete safety,” said Budi Darmawan Jantania, Vice Country Director of the Chery Business Unit. Chery has yet to reveal the pricing for this new generation, which succeeds the Chery QQ that previously circulated in the Indonesian market in 2006 as a small petrol-powered car.
In terms of its physical appearance, the car is compact, featuring a silhouette that blends angular and rounded curves, giving it a dynamic and modern look. The Chinese manufacturer also provides various additional cabin accessory options that can be personalised according to the owner’s preference.
Based on Chinese market specifications, the model measures 4,195 mm x 1,811 mm x 1,574 mm with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, and rear passenger legroom reaching 977 mm. Regarding practicality, the Chery Q offers a rear boot capacity of up to 1,450 litres plus a front boot of 70 litres, making it not just a stylish compact EV, but also functional for daily needs.
“A smart cockpit is present within a comfortable and class-leading spacious cabin, thanks to space efficiency through the ‘smart cube design’ concept adopted by the Chery Q. This design allows the Chery Q to provide ample headroom and legroom not only for first-row passengers but also for the second row,” said Budi.
The Chery Q offers a blend of compact design and iconic exterior character, designed for the public’s need for more practical, efficient, and environmentally friendly urban mobility. The introduction of the Chery Q follows the positive reception the model received in the Chinese and Thai markets.
Chery claims that public enthusiasm in Indonesia for the Chery Q is already evident from an 80 per cent increase in digital searches related to the model over the past week, particularly concerning its design, specifications, potential pricing, and its arrival in the national market. The Chery QQ3 EV, as the model is known in the Chinese market, successfully secured 56,879 orders within just two hours of official registration opening in March 2026. The model subsequently continued its global exposure through the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand under the name Chery Q.
