Chery launches Tiggo 8 Champion starting from Rp283 million

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chery has launched the Tiggo 8 Champion Family SUV range, comprising the Tiggo 8 Plus, Tiggo 8 Pro, and Tiggo 8, all of which have received updates including enhanced driver assistance features, the latest cockpit hardware, and improved equipment levels.

As reported by Carnewschina on Wednesday (3/6) local time, the primary highlight is the Tiggo 8 Plus Extraordinary Champion, which is now equipped with the Falcon 500 driver assistance system. This system utilises the Qualcomm 8620 chip and supports Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) on motorways, including automatic lane changes, obstacle avoidance, ramp entry and exit, tunnel adaptation, and lane borrowing when passing through construction areas.

Additionally, the SUV features Automatic Parking Assist (APA) to facilitate automated parking processes. Chery is offering the Tiggo 8 Plus in both Luxury and Falcon 500 Edition variants at promotional prices of 106,900 yuan (approximately Rp283 million) and 121,900 yuan (approximately Rp322 million) respectively. The company has distinguished models equipped with the driver assistance system with blue accents on the exterior.

In terms of design, the Tiggo 8 Plus retains the polygonal grille and integrated headlights seen in previous models. The SUV measures between 4,688–4,705 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,747 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,710 mm.

Inside the cabin, Chery has installed a 15.6-inch 2.5K resolution infotainment screen powered by the Qualcomm 8255 chip. The system is supported by an AI voice model claimed to improve command recognition by 40 per cent, boasting an activation rate of over 98 per cent and a response time of approximately 700 milliseconds.

The cabin offers 32 storage compartments and a boot capacity of up to 1,930 litres when the rear seats are folded. Comfort features include eight-point massage seats with five modes, a 10-speaker Sony audio system, dual-zone air conditioning, and the C-Pure cabin air purification system.

For performance, the Tiggo 8 Plus utilises the Kunpeng 1.6 TGDI turbo petrol engine, producing 147 kW of power and 310 Nm of torque. Chery claims that the dual hydraulic engine mounts can improve vibration damping by more than 30 per cent. Safety features include nine airbags and a 540-degree panoramic camera as standard equipment.
