Chery Launches Rely R08 Pickup Truck in the United Arab Emirates
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chery Automobile has launched the mid-size Rely R08 pickup truck in the United Arab Emirates, with prices starting from 62,895 AED or approximately Rp289 million including tax.
According to a CarNewsChina report on Wednesday, the truck is available in both petrol and diesel variants.
The Rely R08 features an 80-litre fuel tank and a payload capacity of up to 1,000 kg.
The Rely R08 launched in the UAE has a distinctive front end, fitted with two large headlight blocks rather than a two-tier design with slim daytime running lights. Other features include a smaller grille and a larger front bumper.
The Rely R08 marketed in the UAE measures 5,370 x 1,960 x 1,880 mm with a wheelbase of 3,230 mm, making it slightly longer than the Toyota Hilux.
The Chinese-built truck uses a body-on-frame structure, similar to the ZX Terralord (Weishi 1986) model available in China.
The cargo bed measures 1,530 mm in length, 1,620 mm in width, and 515 mm in height, with a payload capacity of up to 1,000 kg.
The petrol-powered Rely R08 uses a Mitsubishi 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated engine producing 158 hp and 230 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The entry-level Rely R08 comes with rear-wheel drive (RWD), whilst higher trims are equipped with four-wheel drive (4WD).
The diesel-powered Rely R08 uses a Dongfeng 2.3-litre turbocharged engine producing 161 hp and 420 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The diesel Rely R08 is available with RWD or 4WD depending on the trim level.
The entry-level petrol variant features cloth seats, manual seat adjustment, rear parking sensors, air conditioning, dual front airbags, and four speakers. Its starting price is 62,895 AED or approximately Rp289 million including 5 per cent value-added tax (VAT).
However, there are considerably more expensive variants with more luxurious equipment. For instance, the Rely R08 Limited Edition diesel offers a 4WD system, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charging, a surround-view camera system, and ADAS features, priced at 94,395 AED or approximately Rp433 million including VAT.
By comparison, the Toyota Hilux double cab 4WD starts from 115,000 AED or approximately Rp528 million in the UAE.
