Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chery has launched the Rely R08 Pro pickup in China as part of its expansion in the commercial vehicle line, targeting both domestic and export markets. The launch of this model aims to strengthen Chery’s global strategy for the pickup segment, introducing a vehicle with a ladder frame configuration that prioritises off-road capability, payload capacity, and modern cabin technology. According to Carnewschina on Friday (17/4) local time, the Rely R08 Pro features a more aggressive exterior design compared to the standard version, marked by a large rectangular grille, boxy front headlights, and a sturdy bumper with additional guards. The vehicle is also equipped with all-terrain tyres, wide overfenders, side steps, and a snorkel to support performance in harsh terrain. In the interior, the Rely R08 Pro boasts a modern cabin with a 15.6-inch touchscreen supported by the Qualcomm 8155 chip. This system provides over-the-air (OTA) updates, voice control, phone connectivity, and remote vehicle control functions. Safety and driver assistance features include Level 2 technology, a 360-degree camera, and chassis transparency functions. The vehicle is also fitted with six airbags and electronic stability control. In terms of performance, this pickup is powered by a 2.3-litre turbo diesel engine with a peak torque of 420 Nm available from 1,500 rpm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF. The BorgWarner four-wheel-drive system supports 2H, 4H, and 4L modes, along with front and rear differential locks. For off-road capability, the Rely R08 Pro has an approach angle of 34 degrees, departure angle of 29 degrees, and ground clearance of 230 mm. Additional features such as tank turn and crawl mode are included to enhance manoeuvrability in extreme terrain. For the global market, this model is marketed under a different name, Chery Himla, and has begun entering several regions such as the Middle East.
