Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) has spoken out regarding the incident of a Chery Tiggo Cross CSH unit catching fire on 31 March 2026 in the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road area. According to an official statement from the company, it is currently conducting an investigation alongside the technical team at the incident site, prioritising global standards during the process. “Based on the chronology, the vehicle was being driven for internal delivery purposes, from the dealer to the storage area. This delivery is a process not related to purchases or consumer journeys,” reads the official statement from the CSI team, on Wednesday. According to the driver’s report, the vehicle was in normal condition and no irregularities were found during the journey. The fire on the vehicle originated from the front area. At this investigation stage, there are no indications linking the incident to the battery or electrical system, which is located in the lower central to rear area of the vehicle. To date, the company is still working to identify the cause of the fire on the vehicle. According to them, the fire could be due to internal factors such as the involvement of external materials or foreign objects outside the product components, which cannot yet be ruled out. For information, this vehicle is equipped with a combination of a petrol engine and electric motor in hybrid technology. The vehicle is fitted with the sixth-generation ACTECO G4G15B hybrid engine combined with a 1,498 cc 4-cylinder ICE engine. The vehicle also prioritises the safety of drivers and passengers through 17 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features included in it. Thus, drivers and passengers feel safe while operating the vehicle. As part of its commitment to supporting the transition to the era of environmentally friendly vehicles, the Tiggo Cross CSH Hybrid comes with attractive offers that provide added value for consumers.
