TANGERANG — Chery Group Indonesia has confirmed that its commitment to investing in Indonesia remains on track. The company aims to begin the realisation of its manufacturing sector investments within this year.

This statement was made by the President Director of Chery Group Indonesia, Zeng Shuo, following pressure from the government for automotive industry players to promptly realise previously stated investment commitments. In response, Zeng Shuo emphasised that Chery continues to execute its established investment plans, covering both research and development (R&D) and manufacturing.

“Chery already has an investment plan in Indonesia. So far, investment in research and development (R&D) is proceeding according to our commitment. Moving forward, we will also increase investment in the manufacturing sector,” he stated during the GIIAS 2026 event at ICE BSD, Tangerang, on Thursday (30/07/2026).

According to Zeng Shuo, the company is currently finalising its manufacturing investment plan so that the realisation process can begin this year. “We are working to ensure the investment plan can be completed this year. It is our hope that manufacturing investment can also begin to be realised this year,” he said.

However, Chery has yet to determine the specific location for its manufacturing facility. The company is still conducting studies on several industrial estates across Indonesia. “For manufacturing, we are still studying the conditions, infrastructure, and regulations. We must ensure the chosen location meets the company’s needs while supporting our investment plans,” Zeng Shuo added.

To accelerate this investment realisation, Chery has formed a special team tasked with completing the feasibility studies and finalising the manufacturing investment plan. “We have a team currently working to accelerate the finalisation of the investment. Our commitment remains the same, but this process requires time as it must undergo thorough study,” said Zeng Shuo.

One of the key aspects under review is the determination of the manufacturing facility’s location. Zeng noted that the company is currently focusing its studies on the industrial corridor stretching from Jakarta to Subang. This region is considered to have several advantages, particularly due to the support of Tanjung Priok Port and Patimban Port, which can facilitate export and import activities.

“We see that Indonesia has a sufficiently strong industrial corridor, ranging from Jakarta and Karawang to Subang. Additionally, there is support from ports such as Tanjung Priok and Patimban, making this area one of the regions we are currently analysing,” Zeng concluded.
