Chery Considers Bringing Omoda 7 and Omoda 9 Models to Indonesia

JAKARTA — Chery Group Indonesia is continuing to assess plans for the development of its Omoda brand under the Jaecoo flag, including the possibility of introducing new models such as the Omoda 7 and Omoda 9.

President Director of Chery Group Indonesia Zeng Shuo stated that the company is currently conducting research to evaluate the potential of both models in Indonesia. According to him, market research is a key factor in the success of previous product launches, including the Jaecoo J5 EV, which received positive consumer response.

He explained that before bringing new products to the domestic market, the company conducts various studies to understand the needs of Indonesian consumers. “As I have just mentioned, the reason the J5 is so popular in Indonesia is because we have conducted extensive research,” he said.

Business Unit Director of Jaecoo Indonesia Jim Ma added that Chery actually has several other models under the Omoda brand, including the Omoda 7 and Omoda 9. However, the company is still studying the potential of both models before deciding to bring them to Indonesia.

“We also have many products such as the O7 and O9. We will conduct our research to see their potential to become popular in the Indonesian market and how much they will be able to enter Indonesia. So we will prepare for it,” he said.

He added that the Omoda brand is not a new player in the Indonesian market. Chery had previously introduced several Omoda models to local consumers. However, he emphasised that the company is still evaluating the future business strategy for the brand, including monitoring developments in the Indonesian automotive market.

“However, for the future, we are still exploring what the business plan is for Indonesia, especially this year, as well as updates from the market itself,” he added.
