Chery is examining the possibility of adjusting vehicle prices amid a depreciation of the rupiah that could affect a range of operating and production costs. Speaking in Jakarta on Monday evening, 18 May 2026, Zeng Shuo, Country Director of Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI), said the company was still calculating the potential impact of cost increases on the selling price of its vehicles.

“We are also watching the situation, because costs are rising across the board. There is that factor as well. We are trying to perform calculations, but if costs keep rising, there is a possibility that vehicle prices will also rise,” said Zeng.

Meanwhile, BYD said it has studied various potential impacts of the current economic conditions. Although it does not plan to change prices in the near term, BYD does not rule out making adjustments in the future.

“We have considered these conditions through a comprehensive study and, to date, we remain positive and confident in the strategies we have, including product, pricing, and promotions. If asked about the potential for price increases, it may happen, but at present it is not our short-term strategy,” said Luther Panjaitan, Head of Public Relations and Government Affairs of PT BYD Motors Indonesia.

Luther noted that the current economic dynamics deserve attention as they could affect consumers’ purchasing power.
