Cheng Ho procession held in Semarang

The 2026 Cheng Ho Procession Festival featured a cultural parade from Tay Kak Sie Temple to Sam Poo Kong Temple in Semarang, Central Java. The event served as an important moment to commemorate the historic journey of Admiral Cheng Ho, which has spanned 621 years.

Through a lively series of events, ranging from a people’s festival and cultural parade to various artistic performances, the activity successfully brought back traces of cultural acculturation that have long been embedded in the city of Semarang.

Besides providing entertainment for the public and tourists, the festival also strengthened Semarang’s identity as a historic city rich in cultural heritage.
