Cheers for Bahlil at PKB Event, Muhaimin: He Has Many Fans

Golkar Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia became a centre of attention when he was mentioned in the welcoming remarks of the Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Muhaimin Iskandar. Bahlil received cheers from guests attending the PKB’s 28th anniversary celebration.

Initially, Muhaimin expressed his gratitude to the chairmen of the political parties who had attended the 28th anniversary event. However, when Muhaimin mentioned Bahlil’s name, the atmosphere in the Jakarta Convention Center’s plenary hall suddenly erupted in cheers.

Guests, whether seated in the upper or lower stands, cheered when Muhaimin referred to Bahlil as a comrade-in-arms. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources then laughed as he received the applause.

“This is dangerous. It turns out Mr Bahlil has many fans,” said Muhaimin during his remarks at the PKB’s 28th anniversary event on Thursday, 23 July 2026.

The cheers for Bahlil continued when Muhaimin noted that in a friendly mini soccer match, the Golkar team had managed to defeat the PKB team.

“But indeed, we all agreed to concede to the other parties,” Muhaimin said, laughing.

The party nicknamed the Green Party carried the theme ‘New Direction of the Economic Mandate of the Constitution’ for its 28th anniversary.

Based on Tempo’s observations at the venue, the event was attended directly by President Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani, the chairmen of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition parties, PDIP politician Djarot Saiful Hidayat, and a number of Islamic scholars.

Prabowo and Gibran arrived at the JCC plenary hall at around 7.40pm Western Indonesia Time. The Head of State attended wearing a white shirt and black peci, while Gibran wore a brown batik.
