The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is once again providing opportunities for job seekers to participate in the National Internship Programme, also known as MagangHub. The government has prepared slots for more than 60,000 participants for the third batch, which is targeted to commence in November 2026.

Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated that the programme is part of the government’s target to provide internship opportunities for 150,000 participants by the second cohort of 2026. For the second batch of the second cohort, the Ministry has allocated 41,000 participants, adding to the 46,000 participants from the first batch.

“So, 41,000 (participants in the second batch) plus 46,000 from the first batch, and for the third batch, God willing, we will round it up to 150,000,” said Yassierli during a press conference at the Kemnaker Vocational Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday (23/09/2026).

Yassierli noted that the government will take a brief hiatus to evaluate the implementation of previous batches before opening the third batch. “As for the timing, we are currently on a break to conduct evaluations and so on. In about 1.5 months, around early November, we will, God willing, kick off the third batch again,” he said.

According to him, the programme is a cross-ministerial and inter-agency collaboration, following the directives of President Prabowo Subianto. The government hopes that the six-month internship period will provide relevant work experience for participants.

“We hope this national internship programme provides opportunities for the nation’s youth to enhance their competence, gain work experience, build portfolios, and develop networks, so that these six months are truly beneficial for them,” said Yassierli.

Batch 3 will be 100% within private companies. The Director General of Vocational Training and Productivity at the Ministry of Manpower, Darmawansyah, stated that the third batch will differ from previous ones that involved various ministries and agencies. In this third batch, all participants will be placed in private companies.

“Batch 3 will be purely placed in companies. There will be no ministries or agencies involved for Batch 3,” said Darmawansyah.

He explained that the registration process will begin with the internship organisers. Company registration opens in September, followed by participant registration in October before the selection stage begins.

“We will kick off again in November, but we are starting the registration from this September for organisers, then in October for participants and selection, before kicking off again in November,” he said.

Under this scheme, internship opportunities in the third batch will focus entirely on companies as the venues for participants to gain work experience.

Allowances will be covered by the government. Nevertheless, Darmawansyah ensured that third-batch organisers or companies will not need to pay or contribute to the participants’ allowances. When asked whether the allowance is still covered by the government, he firmly replied that the participants’ allowance remains the sole responsibility of the government.

“No… no… The allowance is purely from the government,” he emphasised.

The 2026 second cohort of the MagangHub programme is targeted to reach 150,000 participants. The government previously increased the quota from 100,000 to 150,000 participants to expand opportunities for university graduates to gain work experience and accelerate their transition into the workforce.
