Check Latest BPJS Kesehatan Contribution Rates for Classes 1, 2, and 3 Effective 3 October 2026
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - To date, there have been no changes to the amount of National Health Insurance (JKN) contributions established by the government in conjunction with BPJS Kesehatan.
As of 3 October 2026, the contribution amounts still refer to Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 59 of 2024, which is the third amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2018 regarding Health Insurance, as well as Presidential Regulation Number 63 of 2022.
Under Perpres 63/2022, the government regulates the contribution payment scheme for participants based on several categories. One category is the Contribution Assistance Recipient (PBI) participants, whose entire contributions are paid by the Government.
Secondly, contributions for Wage Recipients (PPU) working in Government Institutions—comprising Civil Servants, members of the TNI (Armed Forces), members of the Polri (National Police), state officials, and non-civil servant government employees—amount to 5% of the monthly salary or wage, with the provision that 4% is paid by the employer and 1% is paid by the participant.
Thirdly, contributions for PPU participants working in State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Regional State-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), and the private sector amount to 5% of the monthly salary or wage, with the provision that 4% is paid by the Employer and 1% is paid by the Participant.
Fourthly, contributions for additional PPU family members, consisting of the fourth child and onwards, father, mother, and parents-in-law, are set at 1% of the salary or wage per person per month, paid by the wage recipient.
Fifthly, contributions for other relatives of PPU, such as siblings/siblings-in-law, domestic helpers, and others, as well as contributions for non-wage earners (PBPU) and non-working participants, have their own specific calculations, detailed as follows:
- Rp 42,000 per person per month with service benefits in Class III inpatient wards.
Specifically for Class III, from July to December 2020, participants paid a contribution of Rp 25,500. The remaining Rp 16,500 is paid by the government as a contribution subsidy.
As of 1 January 2021, the Class III participant contribution is Rp 35,000, while the government continues to provide a contribution subsidy of Rp 7,000.
Rp 100,000 per person per month with service benefits in Class II inpatient wards.
Rp 150,000 per person per month with service benefits in Class I inpatient wards.
Sixthly, Health Insurance contributions for Veterans, Independence Pioneers, and widows, widowers, or orphans of Veterans or Independence Pioneers, are set at 5% of 45% of the basic salary of Civil Servants (Grade III/a) with 14 years of service per month, paid by the Government.
Under the latest contribution scheme contained in Perpres 63/2022, contribution payments must be made no later than the 10th of each month. There have been no late payment penalties since 1 July 2016. However, a penalty is imposed if, within 45 days of the membership status being reactivated, the participant receives inpatient healthcare services.
Based on Perpres 64/2020, the service penalty amount is 5% of the initial diagnosis cost of the inpatient healthcare service, multiplied by the number of months in arrears, with the following provisions:
The number of months in arrears must not exceed 12 months.
The maximum penalty amount is Rp 30,000,000.
For PPU participants, the payment of the service penalty is borne by the employer.
