Check BPJS Kesehatan Contribution Rates for Classes 1, 2, and 3 Effective 11 September 2026
The Government and BPJS Kesehatan have not yet decided on any changes to the National Health Insurance (JKN) contribution rates. As of 11 September 2026, contributions will continue to refer to Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 59 of 2024, which is the third amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2018 regarding Health Insurance, and Presidential Regulation Number 63 of 2022.
Under the contribution provisions of Perpres 63/2022, the calculation scheme for participant contributions is divided into several aspects. First, for recipients of Health Insurance Contribution Assistance (PBI), the contributions are paid directly by the Government.
Second, for Wage Recipients (PPU) working in government institutions—including Civil Servants (PNS), members of the TNI (Armed Forces), members of the Polri (National Police), state officials, and non-civil servant government employees—the contribution is 5% of the monthly salary or wage, with 4% paid by the employer and 1% paid by the participant.
Third, for PPU participants working in State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Regional State-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), and the private sector, the contribution is also 5% of the monthly salary or wage, with 4% paid by the employer and 1% paid by the participant.
Fourth, for additional family members of PPU participants, such as the fourth child and onwards, fathers, mothers, and parents-in-law, the contribution is 1% of the salary or wage per person per month, paid by the wage recipient.
Fifth, for other relatives of PPU participants, such as siblings/siblings-in-law, domestic workers, and others, as well as for Non-Wage Earners (PBPU) and non-worker participants, there are specific calculations as follows:
- Rp 42,000 per person per month for Class III ward services.
Specifically for Class III, from July to December 2020, participants paid Rp 25,500, with the remaining Rp 16,500 covered by the government as contribution assistance.
As of 1 January 2021, the Class III contribution is Rp 35,000, while the government continues to provide assistance of Rp 7,000.
Rp 100,000 per person per month for Class II ward services.
Rp 150,000 per person per month for Class I ward services.
Sixth, health insurance contributions for Veterans, Independence Pioneers, and widows, widowers, or orphans of Veterans or Independence Pioneers are set at 5% of 45% of the basic salary of Civil Servants (Grade III/a) with 14 years of service per month, paid by the Government.
Under the latest contribution scheme in Perpres 63/2022, payments must be made no later than the 10th of each month. There have been no late payment penalties since 1 July 2016. However, penalties are imposed if a participant receives inpatient healthcare services within 45 days of their membership status being reactivated.
Based on Perpres 64/2020, the service penalty is 5% of the initial diagnosis cost of the inpatient healthcare service, multiplied by the number of months in arrears, subject to the following conditions:
The number of months in arrears must not exceed 12 months.
The maximum penalty amount is Rp 30,000,000.
For PPU participants, the payment of the service penalty is borne by the employer.
