Cheating Practices Discovered on the First Day of UTBK-SNBT 2026

The National Selection Committee for New Student Admissions (SNPMB) 2026 discovered several instances of cheating during the first day of the Computer-Based Written Exam for the National Selection Based on Test (UTBK-SNBT) on Tuesday, 21 April 2026. SNPMB 2026 General Chairman Eduart Wolok revealed that two patterns of cheating were detected: proxy test-taking practices and the use of illegal aids during the exam.

“So far, two cheating schemes have been found, such as proxy test-taking and the use of aids,” he stated in a press release in Jakarta.

He emphasised that the committee would impose firm sanctions on participants proven to have violated the rules, ranging from cancellation of exam results to disqualification from all national and independent public university selection pathways. Additionally, perpetrators could face legal sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations.

Eduart urged all participants, numbering 871,496 across Indonesia, to maintain honesty throughout the selection process.

“We urge all participants not to engage in cheating during this selection process,” he said.

In agreement, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto stressed the importance of integrity in conducting the UTBK-SNBT.

“Some cheating attempts are still occurring, and the committee has issued warnings. Let us uphold integrity and avoid cheating, as cheating will ultimately be detected,” he stated.

Brian also reminded participants to trust in their own abilities after the learning process they have undergone and to use parental support as motivation during the exam.

The UTBK-SNBT 2026 is scheduled to run for 10 days, from 21 to 30 April 2026. Meanwhile, the selection results will be announced on 25 May 2026.
