PADANG, West Sumatra: People's Sovereignty Party (PDR)
campaigners proved on Saturday in Padang that a cheap trick can
work well in drawing a crowd.

The party's officials spread news that Reza, a popular husky-
voiced pop singer from Jakarta, would perform in town.

Their expectations were deflated. The big crowd which massed
at Cangkeh Velodrome did not set their eyes on sexy Reza, but
instead were treated to a show by a little-known dangdut singer.

However, the "local" Reza's vocal talent and dancing were
judged worth watching, Antara reported.

"It was OK, I enjoyed the show," said Savitri, who danced the
afternoon away at the sports hall.
