Cheap Staples Bazaar Held, Sandiaga Uno Invites Public to Share Blessings
In an effort to help alleviate the burden on the public ahead of Eid, the Indonesia Setara Foundation (YIS) together with the National Committee for Stunting Prevention (KNPS) organised the Ramadan Cares programme. This initiative was realised in the form of a cheap staples bazaar held on Jalan Pisangan Baru, specifically behind SDN 11 Pisangan Baru, Matraman, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (17/3). YIS founder Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno explained that the event represents a form of care for the community, particularly in helping to meet basic needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr. This is done considering that the prices of staple goods usually rise as Lebaran approaches, while public needs also increase. ‘This moment happens every year, so with this cheap staples bazaar, we hope to make the housewives happy,’ said Sandiaga Uno in a press release on Wednesday (18/3). In addition to helping meet the basic needs of the community, the bazaar is also expected to foster a sense of social care towards others, especially those in need. ‘Indeed, ahead of Lebaran like this, everything (staple prices) is rising now, with this cheap staples bazaar, it is hoped that it can also inspire good deeds,’ said Sandiaga Uno. ‘Everyone can share with each other, especially with those who need it,’ he added. The event, themed ‘Ramadan Cares: Sharing Staples, Sharing Blessings’, received a positive response from local residents. A representative of the local RT/RW chair stated that the activity has a real impact, especially in helping residents meet basic needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr. On the other hand, David Hamka, Chairman of KNPS Indonesia, expressed appreciation to Sandiaga Uno and YIS for the established cooperation. He hopes that similar activities can continue sustainably. ‘The aim is for the benefits to be felt directly by more people,’ said David.
