Che Wei loses job

Lin Che Wei has fallen victim to the country's poor economic performance.

He will lose his job as president director of Socgen-Crosby Securities Indonesia when the company pulls out of the country in May.

This is forcing Che Wei to leave Indonesia for Singapore to assume a new position as corporate finance director at SG Securities (Singapore).

"I tried to stay, but I could not get the vehicle to stay," he said at a farewell luncheon at Mulia Hotel on Friday.

After his career took off in Indonesia as a stock market analyst, Che Wei eventually became a celebrity. He has been invited to various seminars, talk shows and even to be a judge at the Sunsilk Girls contest and a speaker at a graduation ceremony.

"I told all the graduates not to dream of becoming rich in a short time by entering the stock market. I myself lost my job as a stock market analyst," he said.

When asked when he would return to Indonesia, he said, "I will not be long in Singapore, not more than six months." And that's the promise.--JP
