Chatib Basri Visits Prabowo at the Palace

Former Finance Minister Chatib Basri visited the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. Chatib acknowledged that his visit was to meet President Prabowo Subianto.

Based on detikcom monitoring on Tuesday (9/6/2026), Chatib was seen arriving at the Palace through the pillar entrance near the State Palace at 15.35 WIB. Chatib’s arrival coincided with that of the Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

“Yes,” Chatib said when asked whether he was going to meet the President.

Chatib also did not answer clearly regarding the agenda for discussion during the meeting. He deferred to Luhut.

“Ask Mr Luhut. There’s a whole group of us,” he said.

Chatib, who is a member of the DEN, also did not comment much about rumours that he would be joining the cabinet. He claimed to know nothing about it.

“I don’t know,” he said.
