ChatGPT Subscription Prices in Indonesia: Pro Version Now Cheaper

OpenAI has launched a new subscription package for ChatGPT that is more affordable than the previous Pro package. This new package is positioned as an alternative for users who need higher features but do not want to pay as much as the old ChatGPT Pro version. Previously, the ChatGPT Pro package was priced at $200 or around Rp 3.4 million per month, but now OpenAI has released a new option at $100 per month, equivalent to about Rp 1.7 million. Despite the lower price, this package still offers advantages for using the AI coding agent feature, Codex. This capacity is considered suitable for users who frequently run long and complex programming sessions. OpenAI states that ChatGPT Plus remains the ideal choice for stable daily needs. However, the $100 Pro package is described as a more accessible option for users with heavier daily coding requirements. With the arrival of this new package, the subscription options for individual ChatGPT users have now increased to five: free, Go, Plus, and two Pro variants. KompasTekno observations on Sunday (12/4/2026) show that the cheaper ChatGPT Pro package is already available in Indonesia. In the domestic market, this package is priced at around Rp 1.889.000 per month, while the other Pro variant is priced at about Rp 3.5 million. In addition to offering a larger Codex usage quota compared to ChatGPT Plus, this new package also provides earlier access to several ChatGPT features still in development by OpenAI. According to CNBC reports, the launch of this package is also seen as OpenAI’s step to strengthen competition with Anthropic. That company previously launched the Claude Code coding agent in May 2025, while OpenAI released Codex in April of the same year. Currently, AI-based coding assistants are increasingly popular among software developers. This technology is widely used to automate various programming tasks, from writing code to helping fix bugs. According to previous CNBC reports, the projected annual revenue from AI coding services has exceeded $2.5 billion or about Rp 42.7 trillion as of February, more than doubling since early 2026.
