ChatGPT Pro Now Cheaper, Price Drops to Rp 1.8 Million

OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company, has launched a new subscription option for ChatGPT. This package serves as an alternative to the existing Pro plan but is priced more affordably.

The new ChatGPT Pro package is priced at $100 (approximately Rp 1.7 million) per month, making it more economical than the previous ChatGPT Pro, which costs $200 (approximately Rp 3.4 million) per month.

This cheaper version of ChatGPT Pro provides higher limits for the AI coding assistant feature, Codex.

According to an announcement posted by OpenAI on social media platform X/Twitter, the affordable ChatGPT Pro offers up to five times more Codex support compared to ChatGPT Plus.

“The Plus plan remains the best offering for stable daily Codex usage, but the $100 Pro option provides a more accessible upgrade for heavier daily use,” stated ChatGPT’s parent company via its @OpenAI account on X/Twitter.

With the release of this package, the total number of ChatGPT plans for personal use now stands at five, including the free ChatGPT, Go, Plus, and the two Pro options.

KompasTekno observations on Sunday (12/4/2026) indicate that the affordable ChatGPT Pro package is already available in Indonesia. Here, the new package is priced at Rp 1,889,000, cheaper than the other ChatGPT Pro at Rp 3.5 million.

In addition to offering more Codex access than the Plus version, this new package also provides early access to features being developed by OpenAI for ChatGPT. Details of the affordable ChatGPT Pro features are as follows:

Citing CNBC, this new package was released as an effort to compete with Anthropic, OpenAI’s rival.

Anthropic released the Claude Code coding agent in May 2025, while OpenAI’s Codex was launched in April of the same year.

According to a previous CNBC report, the projected annual run-rate revenue from AI coding services has exceeded $2.5 billion (approximately Rp 42.7 trillion) as of February, up more than 100 percent since the beginning of 2026.
