ChatGPT Owner Nears US$1 Trillion Valuation
OpenAI is close to becoming a company valued at more than US$1 trillion, thanks to a funding round that is still under way.
The round is expected to raise up to US$30 billion (Rp542.6 trillion), valuing the company at US$1.25 trillion (Rp22,600 trillion).
The information came from several sources familiar with the deal. They also said the funding round is being led by investors from the United Arab Emirates and Coatue, CNBC International reported on Monday (26 October 2026).
The fundraising follows investors approaching OpenAI with a proposal last September. The size of the round is still being determined, with a conclusion expected next week.
OpenAI is also negotiating a commercial agreement with the UAE to secure more computing capacity.
The company is targeting US$600 billion (Rp10,800 trillion) in computing expenditure by 2030, a figure it disclosed to investors in February.
The latest funding round is seen as a step towards a potential initial public offering (IPO).
OpenAI chief financial officer Sarah Friar told employees in August that the company planned to go public in 2027.
Chief executive Sam Altman later said the opposite, saying that now was not the right time for the company to go public.
