Chasing Global Markets, PLN IP Targets Business Expansion in Latin America and the Caribbean
PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) is strategically targeting business expansion opportunities in the Latin American and Caribbean regions. This move was emphasised during the company’s participation in the 2nd Ambassadors’ Dialogue on Enhancing Trade and Investment Cooperation between Indonesia and Latin America and the Caribbean, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta.
PLN Indonesia Power’s involvement in this forum carries the vital mission of increasing corporate brand awareness on a global level, while simultaneously exploring opportunities for cross-border investment cooperation. The Latin American and Caribbean regions are considered highly potential partners, given the increasingly dynamic growth of trade partnerships with Indonesia.
In line with this objective, Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arief Havas Oegroseno, emphasised the importance of strengthening investment cooperation in the energy sector with the Latin American and Caribbean regions. Arief stated that Indonesia is committed to expanding its investment footprint in the energy sector into Latin America, following successful collaborations in the Middle East and Africa. He noted that this represents a win-win situation, where Indonesia is prepared to serve as a strategic staging ground for entering the Asian market, and vice versa.
Responding to these opportunities, the President Director of PLN Indonesia Power, Bernadus Sudarmanta, affirmed that the Latin American and Caribbean regions are strategic territories that align with the company’s global expansion and sustainable business development agenda. He stated that PLN Indonesia Power continues to expand its role and contribution, not only as the backbone of the national electricity supply but also as an energy company with global competitiveness.
“The Latin American and Caribbean regions hold great potential for clean energy development, and we are ready to provide the experience, technology, and capabilities we have built in Indonesia to create added value alongside international partners. This step also supports Indonesia’s economic diplomacy agenda and the acceleration of the energy transition towards a more sustainable future,” said Bernadus, as quoted in a press release on Saturday, 6 June 2026.
