Jakarta — Charles Honoris, Deputy Chair of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, conducted a public socialisation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme on Jalan Jaya Raya RT 003 RW 014, West Cengkareng Village, Cengkareng Subdistrict, West Jakarta on Sunday.

Honoris stated that the socialisation aimed to increase public understanding of the programme’s objectives, implementation mechanisms, and benefits.

“The nutritional quality of the public forms an important foundation for national development. A great nation must be supported by healthy human resources with good nutritional conditions from an early age,” Honoris said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

He emphasised that the House of Representatives is committed to overseeing the programme’s implementation to ensure it operates effectively, reaches its intended targets, and delivers genuine impact for communities, particularly in supporting the development of a healthy and quality Indonesian youth generation.

“Optimal nutrition fulfilment not only impacts health, but also affects the learning ability and productivity of the next generation in the future,” he added.

Honoris also invited the public to play an active role in supporting and monitoring the programme’s implementation at ground level.

Community participation is regarded as important for providing feedback, conveying aspirations, and reporting any obstacles that may arise so the programme can be continuously improved and refined.

The activity also featured representatives from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Ikeu Tanziha and Efalina Gultom, as well as community leaders and local residents.
