Changan Plans to Bring 15 Electrified Vehicle Models to Indonesia

Changan Automobile plans to bring 15 of its electrified vehicle models to the Indonesian market following the launch of the Lumin, Deepal S07, and Deepal S05. Zhou Qing, Vice President of Changan Auto Southeast Asia, described the launch of the Lumin, Deepal S07, and Deepal S05 as the company’s initial step in developing its business in Indonesia. “Going forward, Changan will expand its product line through the launch of 15 new models covering various electrification technologies,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday. Changan intends to offer a diverse range of products, including Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), and Range-Extended Electric Vehicles (REEV). However, the company has not yet disclosed the launch schedule or specifications of the electrified models to be offered to Indonesian consumers. Changan plans to offer vehicles with various electrification technologies to reach a broader consumer base. The Chinese automaker aims to expand its business in the Indonesian market in stages. The REEV variant of the Deepal S05 is equipped with a 27.3 kWh battery and a 1,500 cc petrol engine, with a claimed driving range of more than 1,100 km. The BEV variant uses a 68.8 kWh battery and, according to the company, can travel up to 470 km based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) testing standard. The arrival of Changan’s products adds to the list of electric vehicle options in the Indonesian market, which already includes models from Chinese, Japanese, and South Korean manufacturers.
