Chandra Asri Group Continues to Strengthen National Industry
For 34 years, PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group) has been an integral part of Indonesia’s industrial growth journey. As the first company to operate a naphtha cracker in Indonesia, Chandra Asri Group established the foundation of the national petrochemical industry and continues to serve domestic industrial needs through products used across various sectors.
As the Company’s journey evolves from an initial focus on building industrial raw material capacity, Chandra Asrol Group is now expanding its capabilities through three pillars: Energy & Chemicals, Integrated Infrastructure, and Mobility Solutions. This transformation is being undertaken with Indonesia remaining the primary foundation for the Group’s growth.
This transformation expands the way Chandra Asri Group contributes. While for over three decades the Company’s contribution was primarily through products within the Indonesian industrial supply chain, it is now also realised through the development of energy and infrastructure capacity, job creation, and the development of talent and the expansion of Indonesian capabilities to a regional level.
President Director of Chandra Asri Group, Erwin Ciputra, stated, “For 34 years, we have grown alongside Indonesia. We began our journey by building national petrochemical capacity and serving industries through the products we produce. Over time, Indonesia’s needs have also evolved, and we continue to build new capabilities through business diversification.”
Erwin Ciputra continued, “For us, regional growth is also part of that journey. As our business expands in the region, Chandra Asri Group creates opportunities for Indonesian talent, bringing Indonesian capabilities to the regional market and creating benefits that can, in turn, strengthen our business base in Indonesia.”
From Raw Materials to Part of Indonesia’s Industrial Journey
For over three decades, Chandra Asri Group’s products have been used as raw materials by various industrial sectors, including packaging, automotive, construction, and electronics, supporting the daily needs of the Indonesian people.
This role is part of Chandra Asri Group’s long journey in building petrochemical industrial capacity in Indonesia. By providing domestic raw materials, Chandra Asri Group is part of the national industrial supply chain and supports the development of downstream industries.
The commitment to continuously strengthen this capacity is reflected in the construction of the Chlor Alkali and Ethylene Dichloride (CA-EDC) facility in Cilegon, Banten. As of July 2026, the construction of the facility, managed through PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA), has reached 72% and has entered the main phase of infrastructure construction, with a target to commence commercial operations in 2027. This project, with an investment value of over US$800 million, is part of the Group’s long-term strategy to strengthen the reliability of the supply of basic chemicals for national industry, reduce Indonesia’s dependence on imports, create jobs, and open opportunities for the Indonesian workforce in the industrial and manufacturing sectors.
Expanding Energy Capabilities to Support Indonesia’s Needs
At a regional level, the acquisition of Aster Chemicals and Energy (Aster) has expanded the Company’s footprint in the energy and chemical sectors, while the integration of the Esso network in Singapore has strengthened the Group’s experience in managing energy businesses and fuel retail networks.
This development does not stand alone. Within the Group, various assets and capabilities are increasingly interconnected, providing new experiences in energy management, operations, supply chain, and customer service. Through Aster, Chandra Asri Group can also support energy security by providing petroleum products, including petrol, jet fuel, gas oil, and bitumen to support various industries in Indonesia.
By building capabilities in Indonesia while simultaneously expanding experience in the regional market, Chandra Asri Group continues to develop an energy platform that can support long-term business needs.
Infrastructure Connecting the Industrial Value Chain
In addition to energy and chemicals, infrastructure is a vital part of Chandra Asri Group’s transformation journey. Through PT Chandra Daya Investasi Tbk (CDI), the Group is developing infrastructure businesses related to Power, Industrial Water, Port and Storage, and Logistics. By 2026, CDI continues to strengthen its presence as a regional-level infrastructure platform.
This development expands the Group’s role in the industrial value chain. While Chandra Asri Group initially focused on providing raw materials, the Company is now also building infrastructure that supports the movement of goods, storage, and utilities to meet industrial needs.
Thus, the infrastructure business complements the Group’s strengths in energy and chemicals, while also opening opportunities to develop and support an increasingly integrated industrial ecosystem.
Growing in the Region, Building Capabilities in Indonesia
Chandra Asri Group’s expansion in the region not only expands the scale of business but also opens new opportunities that can benefit Indonesia. One such example is through PT Chandra Asri Sentral Solusi (CASS), which was formed as a strategic partner to provide services supporting the operations of Group entities in Singapore. CASS plays a role in building more integrated and standardised processes, utilising digital technology, and strengthening operational excellence.
The presence of CASS also creates job opportunities and opens career development paths for professional talent in Indonesia. By supporting Group operations from Indonesia, CASS enables Indonesian talent to gain work experience in a regional business environment, while building competence.
