The role of women is crucial and has transformed into a primary actor in various fields. This can be seen from the many female figures who have successfully filled strategic positions in various companies, one of which is the President Director of PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium, Melati Sarnita. This woman has successfully built her career in a sector that is considered dominated by men. However, that is not an obstacle. Thanks to her hard work and commitment, she has reached the top position in the company. “By chance, I am in manufacturing and also mining, so there are still few women,” said Melati at the Top Woman Fest at Sarinah, Jakarta, on Saturday (25/4/2026). She believes that the challenges of a career in the industry she is currently engaged in are very significant. It requires hard effort and strong determination to achieve success. This becomes the basic capital for women to compete with men. She also promises to continue striving to encourage women’s leadership and compete healthily with men in her sector. “For women in this male world, there are still many challenges, so hopefully in the future we can be much better than today,” she explained. It is known that Melati’s career journey in this industry is very long. A graduate of Metallurgy Engineering from UI and a Master’s in Management from UGM, she has even held strategic positions at PT Perusahaan Gas Negara LNG Indonesia to PT Krakatau Steel. Her perseverance in struggling and reaching her current position makes her worthy of the Top Woman in Metals & Energy Leadership award.
