Jakarta — The construction of the Patimban Port Toll Access Road in West Java is facing substantial challenges arising from the requirement for high-volume pavement material with a relatively tight execution timeline.

Consequently, PT Hakaaston (HKA) is currently finalising technical preparations to commence a series of pavement work phases on the project.

The work to be undertaken includes the production and laying of hot-mix asphalt, as well as investigation of involvement in road base layers such as sub-base and Cement Treated Base (CTB).

Currently, site conditions remain in the earthwork and preloading stage to ensure the stability of the subgrade or settlement.

Given that this project represents a new toll road construction or greenfield development, HKA is focusing preparation on material production readiness and logistics planning before the pavement phase commences around June.

“The material volume requirement for the Patimban access road is quite substantial with a relatively compressed execution timeline. Our primary focus at present is securing competitively-sourced stone material from the West Java region, as well as ensuring operational effectiveness so that all pavement stages, from base layers through to asphalt, proceed according to schedule,” the company stated.

All work execution adheres to technical standards established by the Directorate General of Highways through the Work Plan and Contract Specifications (RKS).

HKA is also implementing strict Quality Control procedures and conducting active coordination with various stakeholders on site to ensure that pavement quality possesses high durability.

The Patimban Toll Access Road is targeted for completion in December 2026 and is expected to strengthen connectivity to the port and support smooth logistics distribution in the region.

Following the conclusion of the construction period and the toll road’s commencement of operations, HKA is also preparing a routine maintenance programme to preserve the pavement performance at optimal levels over the long term.
