Chairman of the Regional Representative Council Inspects Progress of Legislative Area Development in IKN
Penajam Paser Utara (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia, Sultan B. Najamudin, has directly inspected the progress of the development of the Legislative Area in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) to ensure the readiness of infrastructure for the government centre and the political capital by 2028.
“I, along with several DPD members, are conducting a special working visit to see the latest developments in IKN firsthand. We hope that the established schedule can be implemented on time, so that the relocation schedule for civil servants, ministries, and agencies also proceeds according to target,” said Sultan B. Najamudin in Nusantara City on Tuesday.
The Head of the Nusantara Capital City Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, welcomed the direct inspection by the senators as a form of political support for the continued development of Nusantara, in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 79 of 2025.
“Welcome to the Chairman of the DPD RI and his delegation. The presence of high-level state institutions is very pleasing to us, allowing us to present the progress achieved while providing political support for the sustainability of IKN,” said Basuki.
According to data from the IKN Authority, the realisation of physical construction in the Legislative Area currently shows an average building progress of 14.8 per cent. Specifically, the construction achievement for the DPD RI Building plot has reached 14.2 per cent of the set target.
The progress of the building’s physical construction includes the completion of land grading, substructure reinforcement, and the driving of main piles at the project site. Work in the Legislative Area and the DPD Building plot is currently focused on plot arrangement and the preparation of basic structures before proceeding to superstructure works.
Meanwhile, the construction of the 3.7-kilometre access road for the legislative area, which has reached 30.4 per cent, is focused on roadbed opening and the arrangement of the main drainage system. This logistics route is being prepared to support the smooth movement of heavy equipment and the distribution of construction materials.
In addition to monitoring the DPD RI Building plot, the senator delegation also inspected several other strategic infrastructure projects within the Nusantara Core Government Area (KIPP), including the State Palace and Vice Presidential Palace complexes.
The government aims to complete the facilities in this Legislative Area to gradually strengthen the functions of state institutions as Nusantara begins operations as the new centre of government.
