Chairman of PP MES Supervisory Board Swears in MES Council for 2026-2031 Term

Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono has been appointed Executive Chairman of MES, serving alongside General Chairman Rosan P. Roeslani, who is also the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and CEO of Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara). Vice President of Indonesia (2019-2024) and Chairman of PP MES Supervisory Board KH. Ma’ruf Amin presided over the inauguration of the new MES leadership structure in Jakarta on Sunday, 24 May. Ferry stressed that the new leadership will actively assist businesses in overcoming licensing hurdles. Additionally, MES will provide guidance for SMEs and cooperatives to develop Sharia-based businesses, aiming to strengthen Indonesia’s position as the global halal production hub. ‘MES is not merely a discussion forum but an operational instrument delivering tangible impact. We will ensure SMEs, cooperatives, and the halal industry receive full support from the Sharia ecosystem,’ Ferry stated on Sunday, 24 May 2026. Under the theme ‘Realising Collaborative Leadership for a Competitive and Broad-Impact Sharia Economy’, the new MES leadership inauguration marks a pivotal moment for enhancing stakeholder synergy in advancing inclusive, sustainable national Sharia economy and finance, contributing to societal welfare and Indonesia’s economic progress. Moving forward, MES will enhance collaboration with the Association of Islamic Economics Experts and the National Sharia Economy and Finance Committee (KNEKS) to conduct studies, research, and develop Sharia economic concepts applicable in practice. ‘The Sharia economy must focus more on the real sector. A key aspect is strengthening village cooperatives, which drive grassroots economies,’ Ferry said. With the new leadership, MES aims to directly benefit society, particularly in advancing Indonesia’s Sharia economy. Ferry expressed optimism that stakeholder synergy will further develop the country’s Sharia economic ecosystem. Also present were Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan P. Roeslani, Minister of Religion and MES Supervisory Board member KH. Nasaruddin Umar, Financial Services Authority Commissioner Frederica Widyasari, PP MES Expert Council Chairman KH. Hadad, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives Farida Farichah, along with various Sharia economy stakeholders, senior ministry and agency officials, regional governments, and national Sharia economics academics.
