Chairman of DPR Commission XII Appreciates Government's Efforts to Maintain Energy Supply During Eid
The Chairman of DPR Commission XII from the Golkar Party faction, Bambang Patijaya, expressed appreciation to the government, particularly the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) along with state-owned enterprises (BUMNs) in the energy sector, for their readiness and anticipatory steps in ensuring the availability and smooth supply of BBM, LPG, and electricity during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period. According to Bambang, up to H-3 before Eid al-Fitr, the government through the Ministry of ESDM and energy BUMNs has shown optimal preparedness in maintaining national energy resilience. This is reflected in the stable stocks of BBM and LPG, smooth distribution, and the readiness of the national electricity system to meet the surge in public electricity needs. “We appreciate the government’s steps through the Ministry of ESDM and energy BUMNs that have managed to maintain the availability and smooth supply of BBM, LPG, and electricity up to the eve of the holiday. This is very important in supporting the smooth flow of homecoming traffic and the comfort of the public in celebrating Eid al-Fitr,” said the legislator from the Bangka Belitung electoral district, as quoted in a press release on Wednesday (18/3/2026). He added that the increase in energy consumption during the Eid period does not only occur in BBM and LPG, but also in electricity needs, both in the household sector and public services. Therefore, the readiness of power plants, transmission networks, and electricity distribution becomes an important aspect that must be maintained optimally. Furthermore, Bambang assessed that the synergy between the government and energy BUMNs, including in maintaining the reliability of the national electricity system and ensuring adequate power reserves, is a key factor in maintaining energy stability during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr alert period. “The reliability of electricity supply must remain maintained so that no disruptions occur that could hinder public activities. We encourage that the preparedness of the electricity system, including power reserves and responses to disruptions, continues to be strengthened,” he added. Bambang also advised the public to remain calm and not engage in excessive purchasing (panic buying), either for BBM or LPG, because the government has ensured that supplies are in a safe and sufficient condition during the Eid al-Fitr period. “We advise the public not to engage in panic buying. Energy supplies are in a safe and sufficient condition, so the public can carry out activities calmly during the homecoming and Eid al-Fitr celebration period,” he emphasised. Bambang also encouraged that oversight of energy distribution, both BBM, LPG, and electricity, remains strengthened until after Eid, particularly in anticipating return flows and maintaining supply stability in areas with high demand. Commission XII of the DPR RI, continued Bambang, will continue to support the government’s steps in strengthening national energy resilience, including ensuring safe, equitable, and affordable energy availability for all people, especially at strategic moments like Eid al-Fitr.
