Chairman of Commission III Dismisses Housing Developer Over Bekasi Mosque Dispute
Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, could not contain his anger and dismissed a representative from the Board of Directors of PT Hasana Damai Putra (HDP) from a public hearing in Commission III of the DPR, Jakarta, Thursday (26/2).
The meeting discussed the continuation of the case regarding the rejection of access to the mosque in the Vasana and Neo Vasana Housing Complexes, Bekasi Regency, West Java.
Habib was angry because the representative of PT HDP, as the developer of the two housing complexes, had not implemented the results of the previous Commission III meeting to create access to the mosque for residents of the housing complex.
In addition, according to Habib, the representative of PT HDP also did not clearly answer the reason for not implementing the conclusions of the previous meeting.
“Sir, please, you were present yesterday. Why haven’t you implemented it?” Habib asked.
“First, I want to say that, apart from that, there are residents from the Vasana Cluster who…” replied the representative of PT HDP.
“That’s not your business. That’s not your business. You answer, or you leave?” Habib interrupted.
“I’ll answer, I need to explain,” the representative of PT HDP tried to explain.
“No need. Just answer what I asked, why haven’t you implemented the decision of Commission III?” Habib interrupted.
In his statement, the representative of PT HDP claimed that they had never rejected the implementation of the results of the Commission III meeting. However, he said that the plan to build access to the mosque was rejected by some residents of the housing complex, and they threatened to sue if they proceeded with building the access.
“I would like to explain the obstacles, firstly, that most of the residents of the cluster rejected the opening of the wall and stated that they would sue HDP legally if they carried out the opening of the cluster wall or allowed other parties to open the cluster wall,” said the representative of PT HDP.
In this case, some residents of the Vasana and Neo Vasana Housing Complexes had previously independently purchased land and built a mosque outside the housing area. However, until the mosque was built, there was no access to the mosque.
Some residents are said to have rejected the construction of access by demolishing the housing wall.
“The statement of rejection of the legal claim from the residents was submitted in writing to HDP through a letter dated October 12, 2024,” he said.
Hearing this answer, Habib expressed his dissatisfaction. According to him, the statement from the developer did not change from the previous meeting.
Habib was asked by the developer’s representative not to interrupt his statement. However, the Gerindra Party politician refused, because as chairman, he had the right to regulate the course of the meeting.
“I’m in charge, sir! You leave! Security, dismiss this person, he is not effective in the meeting. Please leave!” Habib shouted.
“Leave! This is not clear! You are amazing, leave! You have been reminded three times. Please dismiss him, call security to dismiss him. This is hindering the construction of the mosque,” he added.
