Chair of Indonesian Child Protection Commission Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah Passes Away

The Chair of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah, has passed away on Sunday, 1 March 2026. The news was conveyed by KPAI Vice Chair Jasra Putra to Tempo via WhatsApp message.

The exact time of Margaret’s death has not yet been disclosed. The KPAI conveyed deep condolences and remembered Margaret’s contributions during her lifetime. “Today we have lost a leader, a mother, and a role model who was deeply meaningful to us at the Indonesian Child Protection Commission,” stated the official KPAI statement on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

For the KPAI, Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah was not only a leader for the institution but also a figure full of steadfastness, gentleness, and unwavering commitment to the protection of children in Indonesia. “Her dedication, care, and counsel will always live on in every step we take,” the KPAI wrote.

The KPAI expressed gratitude to Margaret for her service and love given to the children of this nation. “May Allah SWT place the deceased in the best place beside Him, and give strength and steadfastness to her bereaved family. Our prayers accompany you, always. Al Fatihah.”

Based on information circulating in various media, Margaret passed away at 08.00 WIB. The late chair had been treated at Fatmawati Hospital before the month of Ramadan. Margaret will be buried in her hometown of Lumajang, East Java.
