Chair of DPR Commission III Appreciates Polri for Busting Online Gambling Headquarters in Hayam Wuruk
Chair of DPR Commission III, Habiburokhman, has appreciated the Polri’s efforts in eradicating an international online gambling (judol) operation in an office building in Hayam Wuruk, West Jakarta, which involved 320 foreign nationals and one Indonesian citizen. Habiburokhman praised the firmness of Polri in protecting the public from online gambling.
“Commission III of the DPR RI gives full appreciation and support to Polri for the successful uncovering of an international online gambling network involving 320 foreign nationals from various countries; this poses a serious threat to society and national social resilience. This firm step demonstrates Polri’s commitment to enforcing the law professionally and being present to protect the public from the destructive impacts of online gambling that damage morals, family economies, and the future of the younger generation,” said Habiburokhman to reporters on Monday (11/5/2026).
Habiburokhman assessed that eradicating online gambling aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita, particularly in strengthening legal reform, maintaining national security stability, and creating a healthy and productive digital space for society.
“Commission III of the DPR RI views that online gambling practices are no longer conventional crimes but have evolved into organised and cross-border crimes that exploit digital technology, involve large fund flows, and have the potential to trigger other criminal acts such as money laundering and fraud. Therefore, their handling must be done seriously, consistently, and comprehensively,” he stated.
Habiburokhman urged Polri not to stop eradicating online gambling transparently and professionally. Habiburokhman also encouraged Polri to synergise with other ministries and institutions to combat judol.
“We encourage Polri to continue taking action against the main perpetrators, bookmakers, operators, and parties facilitating online gambling activities without discrimination. Law enforcement must be carried out professionally, transparently, and sustainably to provide a deterrent effect and break the chain of online gambling practices in Indonesia,” said Habiburokhman.
“We also encourage strengthening synergy among ministries and institutions, including supervision of the financial system, immigration, and national cyberspace, to prevent Indonesia from being used as an operational base for international digital crime,” he added.
Previously, the Director of General Criminal Acts (Dirtipidum) of Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra, stated that the arrest of 321 perpetrators in the judol headquarters was a form of commitment to eradicating online gambling. He noted that the movement of online gambling is very detrimental to society and the state economy.
“We from the Indonesian National Police are committed to eradicating gambling criminal acts. Whether online gambling or conventional gambling, because this is very detrimental to society and can harm the state economy,” said Wira in a press conference to reporters in Jakarta on Sunday (10/5).
Wira warned that Indonesia should not become a nest for online gambling. Polri is said to be committed to eradicating such violations.
“Then, no less important, with this uncovering, it is hoped that Indonesia does not become a place for online gambling nests. This is our commitment,” he said.
