Chair of Commission III Expresses Condolences After Police Officer Killed by Motorcycle Thief in Lampung

JAKARTA - The Chair of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, has expressed condolences over the death of Brigadir Arya Supena (32), a member of the State Security Intelligence (Kamneg) of the Lampung Regional Police (Polda), who fell while attempting to foil a motorcycle theft (curanmor) incident.

Brigadir Arya passed away after being shot by the perpetrators in the yard of Yussy Akmal Shop, Labuhan Ratu, Bandar Lampung, on Saturday morning (9/5/2026).

“We express our deepest condolences over the passing of Brigpol Arya Supena while carrying out his duty to combat the perpetrators of mugging crime in Bandar Lampung today,” said Habiburokhman in his statement on Sunday (10/5/2026).

Habiburokhman hopes that Brigpol Arya Supena receives the best place by His side.

“Insha Allah, he is a martyr and receives the best place by the side of Allah SWT,” he stated.

According to Habiburokhman, Brigpol Arya serves as an example to his peers because he continuously carried out his duties to protect the community.

“The late officer is an example because he carried out his duties to protect and care for the community until his last drop of blood,” he said.

For information, the tragic incident began around 05:30 WIB.

At that time, Brigadir Arya, who was passing by, saw two suspicious men damaging the ignition key of a resident’s motorcycle.

Without hesitation, Brigadir Arya confronted the two perpetrators.

The bullet hit the right side of the victim’s head, penetrating to the left side.

Based on a 1 minute 42 second CCTV recording at the scene, Brigadir Arya was involved in a struggle and physical duel with the perpetrator before finally collapsing due to a close-range shot.

Brigadir Arya’s passing leaves a deep wound for his wife, Jovita, and their two young children.
