Chair and Blower Rental Operator in Tangsel Suspected of Being Scammed, Losing Rp 63 Million
The perpetrator is under investigation,” stated East Ciputat Police Sector Chief, Kompol Bambang Askar Sodiq, in his remarks on Saturday (2/5/2026).
The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. WIB on Thursday (30/4). Bambang explained that the scam involved pretending to order chairs and blowers for a Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) outreach meeting.
“The modus operandi was pretending to order chairs and blowers for an MBG outreach meeting,” he said.
Bambang said the victim received a call from the perpetrator named Andi around 11:00 a.m. WIB on Thursday (30/4). He recounted that the perpetrator wanted to rent 170 Futura chairs and three blowers to be used on Friday (1/5) for an MBG outreach event at the Banten Student Association (HMB) hall.
“Then around 11:20 a.m. WIB, the reporter sent the Futura chairs and blowers to the Banten Student Association (HMB) hall,” he said.
Bambang stated that when the victim delivered the chairs and blowers, no one was there to receive them, but the perpetrator asked for photos and videos as proof of delivery to the HMB hall. The victim then left the location after sending the evidence.
“After the chairs and blowers were placed inside the Banten Student Association (HMB) hall on Jalan Semanggi II RT 04/03, Cempaka Putih Village, East Ciputat Subdistrict, South Tangerang City, the reporter went home,” he said.
About three hours later, Bambang said the victim received word from the HMB hall manager that the chairs and blowers had been taken by someone. The victim then returned to the HMB hall and found only 50 chairs remaining at the location.
“Subsequently, the reporter went to the location and saw that the previous 170 chairs were down to 50, and the blowers were gone. Witness Yudi Chudori showed photos of a Lalamove vehicle that took the chairs and blowers,” he said.
Bambang said his team had conducted a scene examination (TKP) and was continuing to investigate the incident. He reminded business operators to be more vigilant when receiving orders via phone or social media.
“An appeal to the public or business operators to increase vigilance and caution in serving customers, especially through social media services, particularly when there is no prior transaction history,” he said.
