CFN Jakarta Implemented on Friday from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM WIB

The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) is implementing Car Free Night on Jalan MH Thamrin to Jalan Sudirman on Friday (20/3), from 8:00 PM WIB to 10:00 PM WIB.

This initiative is part of efforts to create a more friendly public space, while strengthening community togetherness in welcoming Eid al-Fitr.

Under the theme ‘Eid Mubarak Jakarta: Rhythm of Fountain’, a series of events have been prepared to liven up the night in the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) area and surroundings, ranging from Rampak Bedug, Festival 1,000 Bedug, a torch parade with 5,000 participants, to visual attractions like dancing fountain, lighting show, laser show, and flying LED show.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that this activity is a breakthrough to provide a new experience for residents in enjoying the takbiran night.

“I have approved the night activity from 8:00 PM WIB to 10:00 PM WIB, we will hold an event called Car Free Night,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall, quoted on Thursday (19/3).

He added that this programme is designed not only as entertainment, but also as part of the innovation ‘Mudik to Jakarta’ which invites the community to celebrate Idul Fitri with a more open, warm, and inclusive atmosphere in the capital.

His side will implement traffic engineering with strict restrictions on private vehicles on several roads around the event location. This policy is taken to ensure the comfort and safety of visitors during the event. Nevertheless, public access remains maintained through public transportation services, including Transjakarta.

“Private vehicles are not allowed to enter, but Transjakarta remains operational so the public can still carry out activities and enjoy the event,” Pramono explained.
