CFD Sudirman-Thamrin Start Time Advanced to 05:30 WIB from 1 June
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, plans to advance the implementation time of the motor vehicle-free day (HBKB) or Car Free Day (CFD) in the Sudirman-Thamrin area starting from 1 June 2026. The CFD in the Sudirman-Thamrin area will then begin at 05:30 WIB.
“Starting from 1 June, the Car Free Day will be proposed to start at 05:30 in the morning. Those who want to run can run first,” said Pramono in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta, on Friday (8/5/2026).
Pramono stated that the change in CFD timing is intended to provide more ample space for the public to exercise in the morning. Pramono acknowledged that the public’s enthusiasm for exercise in Jakarta is currently increasing.
In addition to Sudirman-Thamrin, the DKI Provincial Government is also preparing the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area as a new CFD location. According to Pramono, the revitalisation of the former monorail route area in Rasuna Said is being expedited and targeted for completion in early June.
“Rasuna Said hopefully will be completed in early June this year, inaugurated on 22 June on Jakarta’s birthday,” he said.
Pramono stated that in the future, CFD in Jakarta will not only be centred in Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin, but Jalan Rasuna Said or the Kuningan area could become alternatives.
“Car Free Day in Jakarta can be not only in the southern, western, eastern, and northern cities, but in the centre, it can be in Sudirman-Thamrin and also in Rasuna Said or Kuningan,” he explained.
The former State Secretary Cabinet Secretary assessed that CFD has now become one of Jakarta’s tourist attractions. Moreover, said Pramono, many residents from outside the region to international tourists come specifically to participate in CFD in the Capital.
“Nowadays, many people from outside Jakarta, even from outside Indonesia, come specifically to Jakarta just to join the Car Free Day,” he said.
According to Pramono, tourists usually come to Jakarta on weekends to enjoy various activities, from sightseeing to participating in CFD before returning to their home regions.
With the opening of CFD on Jalan Rasuna Said, the DKI Provincial Government hopes that new tourist spots or tourism attractions will emerge in Jakarta that are increasingly attractive to the public and tourists.
“And I am convinced that with the opening in Rasuna Said, there will be even more tourism spots in Jakarta,” he added.
