CFD on Rasuna Said Street to Take Effect Starting 1 June 2026
The Jakarta Provincial Government will implement Hari Bebas Kendaraan Bermotor (HBKB) or Car Free Day (CFD) on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said in South Jakarta, effectively starting from 1 June 2026.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the CFD in the area will begin at 05:30 WIB, the same as the CFD in the Sudirman-Thamrin area.
“And earlier, friends must have also seen the atmosphere of the Car Free Day we held here, which starts at 05:30 like in Sudirman-Thamrin, and it will be implemented effectively from 1 June,” said Pramono while attending the launch of Jakarta’s 499th Anniversary in the Rasuna Said CFD area on Sunday (10/5/2026).
Pramono explained that the CFD on Rasuna Said is being held due to high public demand for a new Car Free Day location in Jakarta.
“Why is this being held? Because of the extraordinary public demand, and earlier I was also surprised, shocked, on the first day of the Car Free Day, it turns out from the morning, coincidentally I also walked earlier, walked well and the public was very enthusiastic,” he said.
Kompas.com observations at the location showed that the Rasuna Said CFD area began to be crowded with residents from the morning.
Several residents were seen exercising, cycling, to strolling casually with their families along the road closed to vehicles.
Crowd hotspots were centred around Plaza Festival with an aerobics stage and ondel-ondel performances accompanied by traditional Betawi music.
He assured that the improvements to the Rasuna Said area would be completed next month.
“We want to show the public that Jakarta is being revamped to have a new icon on this road. It’s not finished yet, but next month it will definitely be completed (road tidying),” said Pramono.
Pramono hopes that Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said can become a new icon for Jakarta after the area arrangement process is completed.
“At the same time, this is inspired by the figure of Hajjah Rangkayo Rasuna Said, our national heroine from Padang. I hope this road can become a new icon for Jakarta,” he added.
